Syd Field will perform a personal, individual analysis of your screenplay and offer suggestions for the rewrite and on how to improve it.
This evaluation is ideal for writers who want feedback on their screenplay.
In these evaluations each screenwriter will:
- Receive a detailed audio tape analysis of the screenplay, scene by scene, in order to focus on integrating the story line and premise into the arc of the story line;
- Make sure the structural integrity is intact;
- Define and articulate your character's dramatic need;
- Understand the purpose and nature of dialogue to effectively reflect your characters inner thoughts, feelings and emotions;
- Examine the conflict to expand the tension, purpose and motivation of the scene;
- Add more depth and dimension to the characters;
- Isolate and define the inciting incident and highlight the key incident, if necessary, for the unfolding of the story line.
Other points to be covered:
- Opening up the action to creating the visual arena
- Setting up the action and characters visually
- Are the stakes high enough?
- Transitions strong enough?
- Relationships strong and defined enough?
- Does the ending work effectively?
These topics will be assessed and evaluated. After reading the material, there will be an in-person interview (if you live in the Los Angeles area); a tape-recorded phone conversation of the analysis (if you live outside of Los Angeles but in the United States), sent to you after the call; or an e-mail evaluation (if you live outside the United States).
