I have what I consider a bad first draft of my screenplay. I have three acts with a beginning middle and end. Some scenes are doped out, others are mere place holders. It is approximately 120 pages. I'm pleased. It's far from finished but the story has a distinct spine. I like my two protagonists. This is my first time writing a screenplay. The story begins with an action sequence. It has all the elements you describe, a beginning, middle and end. I believe it hooks the viewer (reader) into the story. My question is do you have a formula for the action sequence? Ideally how many scenes?

Your books, the Foundations of Screenwriting and the workbook are enormously helpful. I hope to have a decent draft by the end of May. I am a journalist and have a stressful schedule, though and do not have time to sit at my computer daily to write. But I do bring a notepad with me and write dialogue or notes whenever I'm inspired. I have a week to myself and am once again writing. Thanks for your guidance. jhwe
