Bullet Point Reviews

JUNO

BPR Rating = 9+ (out of 10)

  • Glib, hip and funny
  • A heartwarming, coming of age story
  • A pregnant teen thinks she knows it all and discovers she doesn’t know the first thing about anything
  • It all works out and without being cynical opens our hearts

The Story Line When a young teenager finds herself pregnant, she decides to give her unborn child to a happy couple, but discovers the ways of Life are often unpredictable. In the end, her unborn child goes to the mother who deserves it and she listens to her true feelings.

The 411 Ellen Page stars in Diablo Cody’s bright script and shows why she was nominated for Best Actress Award while winning several others. Jason Reitman directs in an easy, unobtrusive style.

The Bottom Line A must see that helps us get in touch with our own humanity through the eyes of an intelligent teen. A delightful movie experience.

I agree. I loved this film. And I rather enjoy the way it’s taking “teen comedies” to a new level of smart writing.

I think this worked so well primarily because Diablo Cody wrote the movie she wanted to write. I think if people try to delineate theme or message before they start to write, they make a mistake. I think they need to write about what moves them and theme will emerge naturally. It seems to me, this is is what Cody did.

I loved the writing style in this film. It kept it modern and made it real for everyone involved. It was a modern day film and that is the beauty of it. I think it was a great film with a good cast.
